SUV Dumb
I was flipping through flickr for a work related project today and came across a picture of a singer in the crowd of a nice sized hardcore show. It was one of those shows that people have in their basements, and the only way to find out about them is to know someone. Feeling a little nostalgia I browsed the user’s profile to see if there were more pictures. Turns out this guy was a decent photographer and had traveled a lot. I really liked his perspective on things and the more I browsed through his photos the more it became a life experience. I felt like I was seeing through his eyes and experiencing the world as art. I haven’t felt that in a long time, and I have all these new toys to blame. My days are spent on the internet or in front of some fancy design program making ads for products I would never buy.
It would appear I’ve sacrificed experience for convenience and information. Now that I’ve made it through all the pictures I want to buy a camera, sell my belongings, and travel as far as I can, making friends along the way. Maybe someday I’ll be the person you find on flickr with wonderful pictures that will make you sell your things and walk the earth. This could be contagious, but I don’t think it’s deadly. This is how revolutions are supposed to happen.
