WTTF: The Cartoons of Jeremy Hitchcock

Bums are a recurring theme in my life because at many points I’ve come close to living on the street. Not necessarily out of financial hardship, though I’ve been quite fiscally poor for some time, but because I’m consistently fed up with our society. A large part of me also thinks living on the street will generate many great artistic ideas. A lot of them would probably have topics like “There’s no food in my belly.”, or “I ate a plastic cup by mistake.”, or even “Sleeping in trees sucks when you’re skinny.” I think school had a lot to do with wanting to live on the street. Too much of my day was spent learning about other people, and being force fed stories I had no interest in. I wanted to break free, learn about myself, and start writing my own stories. Thankfully I chose college over being a bum, and wanting to break free eventually resurfaced as a strong desire to create. After college, I struggled to find a balance between being able to support a family and having time to create. The fact that you’re reading this means that I have been successful. Everything from here on out is icing on the cake…. mmmm cake.
