Budget Cuts at the Cryo Lab

One of my many irrational fears is being frozen in a state between dead and alive. I think it originated when I read the book Ubik by Phillip K Dick in high school. If ever there was a book that makes cryogenic sleep seem creepy, that was it. What made it so creepy was how the person suspended in half-life could still communicate with the world through a phone, but their signal would slowly fade as they slowly died. That seems like a terrible way to go in my opinion.

In the interest of keeping this blog entry from being completely depressing, I offer this thought. If you’re still alive in cryogenic sleep does your body still go through a slowed down version of metabolism? If so, can one still fart? Would they be like little ice cubes? Can we make an ice machine that just comes from cryo farts? Ok, I’m cut off.
