The best news is what happens between takes, when the cameras are off and everyone is waiting for the tape to roll. Sometimes the news reporters and production people have the craziest conversations, and it makes a former camera operator like me warm and fuzzy to know that even news reporters have strange views. It also makes me wonder where all these crazy right wing fundamentalists hang out because I have yet to come in contact with one. Everyone around me seems to be quite liberal, and the people that call themselves republicans are just rich people who are afraid of socialism.

I’d bet there are just a handful of religious zealots in the world, and because they make such great sensational news stories, they get 90% of the media attention. I’d also bet that we’d fear things a lot less if we turned off our televisions.
