Enemy Projectile
There’s a perfect hill for kites right where I grew up. I can remember making balsa wood, and Styrofoam airplanes to throw into the gusts of wind, and watch them crash and break apart almost every time. I have a childhood fascination with things crashing, which is why when I’m looking for a good video game it usually involves fun crash physics (ie. flatout 2). Anyway, from the perfect kite hill you can see the whole town of where I grew up, which is really just a bunch of suburbs, a water tower, a few strip malls, and a school. When the blackouts happened in New York I naturally went to the hill to see what life looked like without electricity. I was pissed to find the emergency generators at the school had kept the parking lot lights on (which was empty).
Empty parking lots were the backdrop of my teenage years.
Randall Monroe has some great pictures taken from a kite. He’s a smart one he is.

Thanks for sharing that video with the world, found it absolutely fascinating, I do love that sort of thing. Will hopefully look forward to seeing more of the same : )
