This moment
People will do some strange stuff in the name of advertising. I think it has a lot to do with the general over saturation of advertising in the world. You’re constantly assaulted with ads, so it’s only natural to ignore them.
We’ve reached a point where only the very strange things attract us, which is exciting to me. It means we’ll all be living in a Monty-python style world soon, filled with completely nonsensical advertising.
Here are some strange ads I’ve come across:
- Japanese Wii advertisement.
- Mitt Romney’s anti-TV ad that appeared on TV.
- Some badly placed ads.
- Proof we’re going “Python”.
- A mashup showing how women are depicted in television commercials… disturbing.
- Almost as bad as the satellite ad I made. Which shall never be posted online ever.

The problem is that instead of getting off-rocker and engaging advertising (as it would be if it were Python-esque), it’s just the same old crap, but it’s becoming more pervasive. Public schools are signing advertising deals with fast food restaurants! Grr.
