No, creationists are either grossly misinformed or loony. I think after we found the thousandth transitional fossil they should’ve agreed to stop trying to fight it until they got a SINGLE piece of observable evidence, such as a transition that evolution says is impossible (like a crocaduck), instead of lieing about the speed of light slowing down over time (which would make the universe bigger and older if you actually check the math, refuting their point) and babbling about carbon dating being unreliable (it doesn’t work for stuff millions of years old, and the dozen other dating methods that independantly confirm the same dates seem pretty convincing to me).

Creationism still isn’t wrong. Carbon dating said that a donkey buried a few years ago was an ancient fossil. If evolution is right then why are humans weaker, dumber, and slower than all other animals? If you atheists think your right then go out and kill everyone, steal everything, and do the opposite of the ten commandments. What’s the consequence? Why not start Armageddon?

If atheists didn’t stand up and make a scene, it would go back to being like this.
Just as soon as religions people stop forcing their beliefs down everybody else’s throat, atheists will stop bashing religion. Most atheists simply don’t care that you believe in a big invisible sky daddy who grants wishes if you suck up enough. We just don’t want to have those beliefs on us.

What if God didn’t make it in 6 days? And that 6 or 7 days are much more in Heaven, a place away from our place, not bound to time like our place is?

Got any evidence for that claim Dragon? One website isn’t evidence. Why don’t you take a look at his speeches, at Mein Kamfpt (spelling?), at at a myriad other sources which all point to Hitler being a Christian.
It doesn’t matter though. Just because he was a Christian proves nothing. If you’re familiar with the pre-world war ii history, you’d realize that it was not his religion which caused him to be anti-semetic, but rather eastern european society at the time - coupled with a number of other factors. He did use God as a means to get other people on his side - saying it was “God’s will” (Mein Kampft) - but that still doesn’t prove anything. Although it does suggest that people can use religion as a tool of manipulation.
Moreover, atheism didn’t lead to communism. Communism is a socio-political theory, atheism is a theological and philosophical position. The reason atheism was prominent in communist countries is that the communist leaders felt that in order for their totalitarian system to work, they must have the full allegiance of the people. The view that the government could do no wrong needed to be upheld but if their actions were opposite of what was perceived to be God’s will then people would obviously choose the infallible word of God, and use that to criticize the government. The simplest solution to this problem is to remove God. So, in fact, communism bread atheism. Not the other way around. Nevertheless there are many other roads to atheism - for example, rational thought.

I think the idea that Jeremy is being aggressive towards creationists is a matter of interpretation.
If creationists remained independent, practising their beliefs in private with other like-minded people, calling them loony would be aggressive and uncalled for.
But this is not the case. Creationism (currently referred to as “intelligent design”) is designed as a way to push fundamentalist religious beliefs onto others, particularly children (eg. in schools). Creationism is itself aggressive, in both its attempt to obliterate other theories (”God did it”) and in its proponents’ persistent efforts to anchor fundamentalist religion within mainstream society. Hence Jeremy’s “aggressive” stance.
Creationism, religion, etc by themselves = Interesting, good for some.
Creationism, religion, etc introduced in place of rational thought, questioning of authority, indisputable, testable, reproducible facts = aggressive, worthy of scorn, loony.
ps. Did you pick the nick ‘dragon’ from something you heard in the bible? Or another book?

I would like to make the point that belief in higher powers was created by our ancestors thousands of years ago to explain things that at the time were unexplainable. Religion, on the other hand, was create to control the masses. Now that we can explain the world around us through observation and controlled experiments, and have the ability to communicate with people around the world almost instantaneously, these institutions have become havens of ignorance.
Personally, I do believe that there is a higher power, somewhere beyond what we can possibly conceive. I believe this because as of yet, nothing we can observe can show us how everything, ever, started out. Beyond that, I don’t think that this higher power would really care one way or another what we do with our made up money, or our completely insignificant lives.
Perhaps that is, at it’s core, what people still need religion for. The need to feel that someone, somewhere, actually cares.

My Answer: Because it is these senseless/ridiculous ideas that inhibit society’s progression. Half of our society is trying to cure diseases, find ET life, develop anti-aging and regenerative medicine, etc., and you fucking religious nutcases(who believe in God, alien visitors, ghosts, and fortune-tellers, but are skeptical about doctors, scientists, and anyone else who took a path of education over a path of ignorance) keep presenting your STUPID ideas, from a civilization that we today would consider primal, that you fathom from a book of stories, that was passed by word of mouth for 3 centuries until someone finally wrote it down, and has been mistranslated, plucked for facts(or what the church wants us to think, and what they don’t want us to think), and has been instilled in your heads for generation after generation. Shit, if you want to choose a book to follow, then choose the quran or something–at least it is still in it’s original form.

And, if humans hadn’t adapted to todays society by being fat and lazy, they would be considered faster then alot of animals as well. BUT, on planet earth at least, humans far outclass any other animal on intelligence. We have logic and reasoning, creatively, advanced communication, the ability to make advanced calculations..some animals have one or 2 of these things, but we are the only ones who have all of these things. Unfortunately alot of humans choose to remain ignorant*cough, you for example*, so the superiority is not always as apparent.
